GENERAL INFORMATION

Candidates should bring a prepared piece in any style of their choosing; an accompanist is provided.  During the twelve-minute appointment, singers will vocalize to show range/color of the voice, and also be asked to demonstrate the ability to sing with and without vibrato.  Remaining time is spent on pitch recognition & retention, brief checks of rhythm, and vowel colors.  Sight-reading is minimal, to demonstrate the ability to carry a part independently, and there is no requirement to demonstrate language abilities, as coaches are provided during rehearsal of more esoteric languages.

Candidates are encouraged to visit Chorale’s website (www.lancasterchorale.com) or other online sites (Facebook/Myspace/InstantEncores) and download musical samples to familiarize themselves with the sound of the group in various styles and genres.

Chorale sings a three-concert subscription series, supplemented in past seasons by performance with the Lancaster Festival, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, and at other central Ohio venues, including the Great Southern Theatre.

All positions are paid for rehearsal, performance and travel.
